ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with the issue of pursuing I-O Psychology as an undergraduate student. We outline different activities to take part in, which serve both to explore whether this field is right for students considering I-O, as well as preparing for graduate study and beginning to work toward having a competitive application. Different course options in Psychology, Business, and Statistics are recommended, with an emphasis on personally connecting with professors. Gaining research experience in any psychology lab is critical for graduate school applications and for giving students a preview of graduate school, although assignments can vary widely depending on the lab. Other experiences like HR internships and participation in honor societies are discussed as well.
