ABSTRACT

Dorothy Heathcote mbe was a remarkable educator whose theory and practice have had a vital influence on the development of drama in education. For more than half a century her innovative and authentic approaches to teaching and learning inspired generations of teachers and educators all over the world. She died in 2011, aged 85, as she was about to receive the award of an mbe acknowledging her enormous contribution to education. Her influence lives on in all the teachers whose practice has been profoundly altered by her teaching and writing.
