ABSTRACT
Objectives are at the heart of teaching, and instrumental music teachers must provide clear goals for their students as well as the means to attain them. For example, the band’s extra morning rehearsal is not an objective but rather a tool to attain the goal of excellent performance. Broad aims such as competence in critical thinking and problem solving may first require accomplishing many smaller objectives.
