ABSTRACT

Value Management is founded on the principle of precise simplicity. The subconscious mind follows simple, precise, specific instructions and mental models are most effective if they are also simple, precise and specific. The human mind deals with this limitation by using filters to simplify our view of the world. The NLP communications model provides a useful tool for explaining how filters work. In a meaning reframe, the meaning of the presenting problem is challenged in relation to the same context. In business, chunking is important to determine at what level the issue resides or decisions are required. The Meta Model reinstates information relating to three filters which undermine precision: distortions, generalisations, and deletions. The necessary mental shifts require curiosity to get to the cause, dedication to the truth, whatever the findings, and ownership of solutions. Aching curiosity is a child-like, uncompromising determination to get to get to the bottom of the real cause.
