ABSTRACT

S tructures and governance policies of sport organizations evolve to improve effectiveness. The importance of change for sport organizations is in keeping with business and other organizations worldwide. As Beer and Nohria (2000) point out, “The demands of an ever competitive and changing environment are increasing the need for knowledge about how to lead and manage organizational change rapidly, efficiently, and effectively. The management mantra as we enter the 21st century is ‘lead change’” (p. ix). Change should be planned and strategic, not some revolving door, constantly shuffling in new ideas while bouncing out the old.
