ABSTRACT

A systematic approach would now oblige us to examine and identify all the different sorts of crimes and how they should be punished. Some crimes directly destroy society or its representative; some upset the secure lives of private citizens for gain or for honor; other actions may or may not oblige us to make laws from the point of view of the common good. Moral actions, as in physics, are self regulating and are circumscribed in many diverse ways in time and space, as are all movements in nature. Thus only a sophistic interpretation that is worthy of the philosophy of slaves manages to confound eternal truth with the distinct and enduring relationships discovered over time. Security is the primary reason for all legitimate associations one must assign some of the more severe punishments established by law to violations that threaten every citizen's right to security.
