ABSTRACT
Coming out is the experience of separation or differentiation from a heterosexual sexual orientation (Burch, 1997). This is an internal process until one discloses his or her nonheterosexual identity to others. Alternative terms for this process include identity development and sexual questioning (Savin-Williams & Diamond, 1999).
