ABSTRACT

In this chapter, students learn the meaning of the term habitat and that every living thing has its own unique habitat by exploring a hermit crab’s habitat in the ocean and a water boatman’s habitat in a pond. It introduces the term biome and compares the features and creatures of forest and desert biomes. The chapter focuses on the cast of creatures that live in different kinds of wetlands and grasslands, respectively. Encourage students to cut around the general shape of the living things they’ve drawn. Students learn that every living thing has its own unique habitat and that the habitat provides everything the creature needs to live and grow.
