ABSTRACT

The epilogue describes the current socio-political context within which faculty teach Race Studies courses. The authors recount the racial reckoning and counter reckoning in the aftermath of the police murder of George Floyd and how this has made its way into educational battles. The epilogue points to the racially neoliberal policies of this moment such as the Stop Woke Act, the rejection of Advanced Placement African American studies courses, the bans on books and efforts to remove funding for DEI training and programs in colleges and universities. The current cultural and political attack on CRT is a backlash to the protest and progress of the Black Lives Matter Movement and a direct attack on the work of the authors.
