ABSTRACT

A discussion of the ‘4th industrial revolution’ and the global forces driving us there. No prospective postulation about the future of work and the nature of the workplace will ever be conclusive, for one of the defining characteristics of our age is its ability to surprise and confound. Nevertheless, what follows seeks succinctly to explore the global forces of change shaping the future of work and the workplace over the next decade or so; examine the ingenious partnerships that are developing between humans and the machine; explain the growing business case for ESG factors (environmental, social, governance) to be taken into account; and, finally, reflectively position these related processes in the light of a post-pandemic world.
