ABSTRACT
This chapter is organized in two parts. In the first part, the basic and core concepts related to sentence-final particles, such as CP and head-final, are introduced. Linguistic discussions and controversies, particularly in relation to advanced theories of sentence-final particles, are summarized. There is also a general discussion of English correspondences to Chinese sentence-final particles. Building on the foundation of this basic linguistic analysis of Chinese sentence-final particles, the second part of the chapter will introduce some theoretical frameworks in SLA.
