ABSTRACT

Quality improvement does not just require understanding of methodologies, tools, and techniques, but also a deep understanding of change management. There are many instances when quality efforts fail because the leaders are not able to manage change. To get effective results, it’s imperative to manage the people side of change. Employees need to embrace change so that improvements suggested in processes, policies, practices, and behaviours are adopted to make the organisation better. While there are many well-known approaches to change management, this lesson talks about approaches that can be adopted from behavioural sciences. This includes strategies such as ABCD, addressing the three needs, goal alignment, stirring emotions, avoiding various biases, and so on. These are things that are often not emphasised yet play a big role in getting a sustainable outcome.
