ABSTRACT

Jungian coaching is a fundamentally relational practice where energy and ideas are exchanged and, in a free-floating reverie, new possibilities emerge as a co-creation of both coach and client. In this co-creation, coach and client establish a secure container where they may explore new perspectives and allow a new sense of self to emerge. In this chapter the author will suggest three fundamental pillars that enable the formation of this container: the self as instrument, a symbolic attitude, and mentalisation. We will examine why these practices matter and consider some accessible ways in which they can be developed.
