ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 of the book is devoted to the analysis of the psychological development of primary school children from the point of psychological development’s impact on the development of empathy, especially its higher forms. We offer a conceptual model of the empathic development of personality based on the formation of prosocial empathic qualities expressed in higher types of empathic attitudes toward other people. The main provisions and principles of the experimental correctional and developmental program to facilitate the empathic development of personality are described according to the model. The program’s fundamental principle is the process of actualization of emotional and rational awareness by the subject of a personally significant empathogenic situation, finding the solution, and its further subsequent transfer into real interpersonal relationships. The results of its practical approval in a group of junior schoolchildren are analyzed.
