ABSTRACT

This chapter brings together the main messages from the book, encouraging the reader to think creatively about developing their ability to ‘access, analyse, evaluate and communicate messages’, and their digital literacies. It reiterates the three main messages of the book: that there are both positive and negative impacts of children engaging with different types of media sources; that the media can have an impact on how childhoods are constructed; and that that we need to promote media literacy as a strategy to enable children, families, parents and practitioners to make the most of their media use, and to minimise the risks and dangers that it can sometimes bring.
