ABSTRACT

This chapter brings attention to the challenges faced by parents of English language learners (ELLs) and highlights the significance of involving them in their child’s education. It emphasizes that parental involvement is crucial for the academic success and well-being of ELL students. Language barriers, cultural differences, and unfamiliarity with the education system can hinder parental involvement, but schools can take steps to overcome these obstacles. Furthermore, it recommends adopting a systems thinking approach to involve parents and create a cohesive educational ecosystem that supports ELL students. In conclusion, actively involving parents of ELL students can foster a more inclusive and supportive learning environment, ultimately enhancing the success of ELL students.
