ABSTRACT

This chapter gives an overview of the book and connects the problematisations of old age with the enquiry made into governmental policies. It critically looks at the modern interventions of state governments and how these interventions are designed to give life to the population with the propagation of improved health, yet the classifications behind these interventions can also have other less desirable consequences on social life by giving older individuals a singular sense of being and belonging. Finally, the chapter provides actionable policy recommendations, and proposes relevant and complementary themes for further research.
