ABSTRACT

Values are exercised on both an individual and group level. Sophisticated representation on complex legal and business problems often requires the coordination of different legal skills. The alignment of values makes the application of varied skills more valuable to the client and more rewarding to the lawyers serving as colleagues on a team of lawyers, clients and other professionals. Promotion of equality is a fundamental ideal of liberal values and a measure of progress. Respecting each individual in a diverse workplace facilitates inclusion and mitigates insecurity. Inclusion operates both institutionally and personally. Therefore, each individual should commit to building a constructive workplace based on three principles: respect, encouragement of growth and contribution and fair evaluation. The real test of a constructive workplace is the manner in which differences are acknowledged.
