ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses bibliographies that focus solely on women, but from a general or interdisciplinary perspective. A selective bibliography aimed at "professors of introductory interdisciplinary women's studies courses and those who wish to include material on women in other courses and in their research". Many publications which do not focus specifically on women have been deemed relevant by the compiler and therefore included. Author, title, and subject indexes are provided. The bibliography, organized around traditional disciplines, lists 1,763 books judged to be essential in libraries supporting undergraduate women's studies programs. The mammoth bibliography lists works about the women's movement throughout the world published in the 1970s. Dissertations, books, pamphlets, research reports, periodical articles, and government documents are included. Book-length studies and collections of articles are emphasized. Annotations are long and skillfully written, describing the contents and thesis of each work and evaluating its usefulness as an undergraduate text.
