ABSTRACT

Certain factors are usually taken into account in general, viz., an output level, and an input criterion, while considering the productivity at an organization level. Several combinations of output and input variation in general are discussed. Manpower productivity has been specifically described including a standard approach along with cases such as L.P.G. cylinder manufacturing industry and pharmaceutical industry. The role of manpower in such industries is narrated along with ways to improve the productivity in terms of either increase in output or decrease in input. This also includes human-machine interaction specifically and its effects. Energy auditing in such industries among others is useful first step to energy saving that can also be a unique measure for productivity consideration. Various aspects have also been explained in the context of benchmarking.
