Introduction

Between 1925 and 1933, Wells Coates, Max Fry and their co-conspirators had succeeded in creating an identifiable group of modernists within British architectural culture. Manifested in a growing number of commissions for interiors and buildings, their participation in, and co-organization of, events such as the Dorland Hall exhibition, it was reinforced by the movement’s institutionalization in the MARS Group.
