ABSTRACT

John Fiske is Professor of Communication Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has written widely on the subject of popular culture and is the author of Reading Television (with John Hartley), Introduction to Communication Studies, Myths of Oz (with Bob Hodge and Graeme Turner), and Television Culture, and is the general editor of the journal Cultural Studies. Born and educated in Great Britain, Professor Fiske has taught previously both there and more recently at Curtin University in Western Australia. He is an inveterate consumer of popular culture.
