ABSTRACT
The clear difference between a case-control and a cohort study is that here we select by disease status and look back to see what, in the past, might have caused the disease. By contrast, in a cohort study, we wait to see whether disease develops. Diagrammatically, the comparison may be made between Figure 6.1 and Figure 5.1.
