ABSTRACT

TOOTH DECAY ARISES FROM THE RANGE OF CHEMICAL CHALLENGES posed to human dentition by dietary intake. In the modem world, acids and sugars, particularly those lurking quietly in processed foodstuffs and drinks, can have a devastating effect on tooth enamel. Consequently, an industiy has arisen to help us combat decay, plaque and build-up of scale on teeth via toothpastes, brushes, flosses and mouthwashes alongside the intervention of dental practitioners. However, people have not always had access to resources for dental hygiene.
