ABSTRACT
The attention focused on the problem of missing children in the U.S. has increased dramatically since the mid-1980s. America’s resource center for child protection, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), a private, non-profit U.S. corporation, was established in 1984. Its mission is to help find missing children and to prevent child abduction, molestation, and sexual exploitation.
