ABSTRACT

This unit allows the readers to refresh some basic concepts in chemistry. The nomenclature of elements and periodic table are discussed briefly. Solved example problems for finding molecular mass and equivalent mass are presented. Concepts of pH and acid and alkaline solutions are discussed. Terms including neutralization and stoichiometry are included, with example problems. The different ways of expressing concentrations are discussed and conversions are shown. Making a stock solution from concentrate and finding the required feed pump rate is explained with the use of solved example problems.
