ABSTRACT
Patient safety issues such as medical errors, medication errors, surgical errors, adverse drug reactions, and drug-related problems are affecting patients, patients' families, and the healthcare system, therefore, the collaboration between the health care professionals, healthcare researchers, healthcare educators, healthcare colleges and centers and policymakers are very important and the key to success in improving the patient care, improving the patient safety practice and preventing harm due to patient safety issues such as medical errors, medication errors, and others. This chapter covers the history and importance of patient safety.
