ABSTRACT

Radiology is a branch of medicine that uses imaging techniques, such as X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and ultrasound, to diagnose and treat diseases and injuries. Despite the significant role radiology plays in patient care and safety, errors in radiology can occur, which can lead to patient harm or even death. Radiology errors can occur for various reasons, including technical errors, interpretation errors, communication errors, and system errors. Radiology errors and related problems are significant issues in developing countries, but there are steps that can be taken to address these challenges. With increased investment in equipment and infrastructure, training and education, quality control measures, and partnerships and collaborations, healthcare organizations in developing countries can improve patient outcomes and promote a culture of safety in radiology. This chapter aims to describe the radiology safety issues in developing countries.
