ABSTRACT

The chapter first repeats a brief summary of Spatial Grasp Technology (SGT) described in detail in Chapters 3 and 4. It then shows how a special constellation of junk cleaning satellites can be converted under SGT into an intelligent team capable of organizing and executing massive debris removal operations with a good deal of autonomy and reduced ground communications. It demonstrates in SGL how the debris discovery and organization-execution scenarios can be expressed in Spatial Grasp Language (SGL) which is interpreted in a distributed way by the whole satellite cleaning network, where the removal solutions can be organized simultaneously for multiple debris. The chapter also provides a solution in SGL where the junk items can be virtually treated as active objects traveling around the Earth and finding proper cleaners on their own initiative, which guarantees any time needed for finding a suitable match in such self-removal procedure. At the end, an SGL solution is shown for effective integration of different junk removal strategies.
