ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces the various kinds of drug delivery routes used for therapeutic purposes for human beings. These routes offer their own advantages and disadvantages. Out of the various techniques, transdermal drug delivery route is looked at in detail. Transdermal drug delivery involves drug delivery to the top layer of skin. Skin anatomy is discussed, and then various techniques and instruments used for measuring skin parameters are presented. Contemporary ways of transdermal drug delivery like iontophoresis, microneedles arrays, Sonophoresis etc. are discussed.
