ABSTRACT

A main linked switch or linked circuit-breaker shall be provided as near as practicable to the origin of every installation as a means of switching the supply on load and as a means of isolation. Linked circuit-breakers inserted in an earthed neutral conductor must be capable of breaking all of the related line conductors. Every fuse shall preferably be of the cartridge type and shall provide an indication of its intended rated current applicable to the circuit it protects. A fuse base using screw-in fuses shall be connected so that the centre contact is connected to the conductor from the supply and the shell contact is connected to the conductor to the load. If an electrode water heater or electrode boiler is not piped to a water supply or in physical contact with any earthed metal, a fuse in the line conductor may be used as a substitute for the circuit-breaker.
