ABSTRACT
During six years of operation, the behaviour of the groundwater and the pore water pressure were scrupulously analysed. The result did not find a clear anomaly and the cavern is regarded as stable. Watertightness was confirmed comparing the behaviour of the groundwater with the values predicted by the 3D heterogeneous model. The long-term behaviour of the groundwater was predicted. This chapter also outlines the operational equipment and safety management system. The system includes measurements of acoustic emissions (AE) and seismic acceleration. These measurements showed very limited variation and stable operation was assured.
