ABSTRACT

Negligence, which is one of the major areas of tort law, i.e. a class of civil wrong, has been encountered earlier in this volume. Here follows an overview of other areas of tort of which valuers should be aware: nuisance and trespass. This chapter also picks up other legal provisions of relevance to a valuer – health and safety law, bribery, money laundering, the law surrounding data protection, and also the framework of the legal structures of a business, whether a limited company, partnership or sole trader.
