ABSTRACT

The precision is expressed by the standard ellipses. Thus the given coordinates should also be considered as parameters and included in the adjustment. The resection method is a powerful and convenient method in minor triangulation for establishing a new control station of reliable precision, since this station is the only one to be occupied. A resected station is also frequently used as a terminal station of a traverse. The comparison of standard ellipses of various combinations of directions may become important when one or more stations are overgrown with vegetation, but are otherwise favourably situated for the required precision. The condition equations of a triiateration become complicated when they are derived in the form of implicit equations of the observed distances. Although the number of conditions in free nets is comparatively small, many extra calculations are necessary, since the angles in the figure must be calculated.
