ABSTRACT
This case study explores a rural development initiative in the remote, resource-poor Northern Areas of Pakistan. The Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) not only changed the socio-economic and political face of the Northern Areas, it also helped to inspire national environmental and natural resource policy processes to work for poverty alleviation.
