The Early Development of Schemas of Self, Other, and “Self with Other”

The impetus for this paper is the advances in our understanding of infants and the nature of their knowledge of the world. I attempt to integrate recently available knowledge as it applies to the persistent questions about the infant's earliest development of inner mental constructs or schemas ¹ of self, of others, ² and of various self-other experiences.
