ABSTRACT

So we need some restriction on the counterfactual scenarios which we are permitted to consider. Then we face a problem already too familiar from the above: either this restriction is sufficient for sameness of sense, or it is not. If it is not, then we will be able (by argument parallel to the above) derive the result that every expression token differs in sense from itself. If it is, then again we reach the conclusion that we can interpret our account of sameness and difference of Fregean sense only if given an independent sufficient condition for sameness of Fregean sense.7
