ABSTRACT
China is currently the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gas emissions in absolute terms, at the same time it is the world leader in renewable energy, most notably in wind energy, solar energy and hydropower. China is leading the renewable energy field in terms of investments, production and installed capacity (IEA, 2011). It is often indicated that one of the primary causes for increasing global and Chinese investments in renewable energy is concerns about climate change.
