ABSTRACT

The pandemic has increased the risk of social unrest in some parts of Africa, but it has not changed the trend that the overall security situation in Africa is becoming increasingly stable. The pandemic has had a very serious impact on the growth of the African economy. The World Health Organization has previously warned that the African continent, with a population of 1.3 billion and the largest concentration of developing countries, may become the next “epicenter” of COVID-19. The global economic recession caused by the pandemic will reduce capital inflows to Africa. China and Africa are important economic and trade partners, and the pandemic will have a significant impact on China–Africa economic and trade cooperation. The improvements in Africa’s industrialization have laid a foundation for undertaking a new round of international industrial transfer. China should also help African countries stabilize their economic operation as soon as possible from the aspects of trade, investment and financing, and employment.
