ABSTRACT
As a general introduction to the book, this chapter discusses the three themes of the book: how is legality defined in the Chinese context, how is legality reflected in laws, and how is legality embodied in institutions. Against the background of the Xi Jinping administration in the last decade, this chapter also briefly introduces the main ideas of each author in this book.
