ABSTRACT

While educational institutions consist of a series of buildings and names, the occupiers are the ones who are continuously defining the meaning of such spaces through their interactions. Collectively, the occupiers co-create what is college and how it differs from other educational spaces. This chapter focuses on the lived experiences of faculty members who occupy different positions (full-time, contingent, or adjunct) and their narrative of negotiating educational landscapes during the early stages of the pandemic. The process of navigating and negotiating reveals that to support and facilitate students’ mental, physical, and spiritual well-being, faculty need greater institutional support and resources in a myriad of ways.
