ABSTRACT

In this chapter I examine this emerging context and discuss three disruptive platforms (reversity, adversity, and perversity)—sometimes competing with each other—that create cultural clashes and that impact the practice of inclusive leadership. I provide a framework for pursuing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in a more systemic and sustainable way. Along with these concepts, I explore polarity management, a useful tool for helping bridge the upsides and downsides of each concept. By understanding these concepts and growing polarities, more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient change efforts can be pursued in today’s disruptive and polarizing times.
