ABSTRACT
Academics researching the phenomenon of terrorism disagree as to when, exactly, terrorism first appeared in the history of mankind. Some historians believe that it started with the Sicariis in the Judean kingdom during the 1st Century; others cite the Assassins of the 11th Century, the Jacobin rule in France in the 18th Century, or the operations of individual groups in the 19th Century. Of course, identifying terrorism in any particular historical period depends on the definition of terrorism chosen.
