ABSTRACT

Over the last decades, the energy demand has considerably increased and the huge energy consumption largely comes from the fossil fuels. The traditional sources like coal and oil are not environmentally friendly and they are approaching the limit of lifetime. One of the solutions to these problems is to exploit renewable energy source. Among all the renewable energy sources, the ocean wave energy has been known that it has the highest energy density (Lewis et al. 2011). Wave energy will continue to travel a long distance with low losses even if the wind stops blowing; thus it is expected to have small power fluctuations over long periods. Additionally, compared with the other renewable energy sources, wave energy is available up to 90% of time at a given site (Falcon. 2010).
