ABSTRACT

The Internet of Things (IoT) is playing a crucial role in the time of automation by interconnecting loads of devices over the world. It serves in several domains such as smart cities, smart healthcare, traffic management, smart home, industries, and significantly more. The main functionality of the IoT is to sense the surrounding environment, collect the data, and store it in the cloud or remote data center; however, it consumes massive energy. Hence, in the IoT-based system, energy consumption is the key research point in the contemporary era. Green IoT makes a friendly environment by visualizing the idea of reducing the energy usage of IoT devices. So, to achieve a sustainable environment, the overview of Green IoT and its applications are included in this chapter. In addition to that, the architecture, challenges, and research openings for green IoT is discussed in this chapter. In addition, tools and technologies used to implement Green IoT are added here.
