ABSTRACT

The radio telescope allowed man to explore areas of the universe that the old optical telescope couldn’t reach, going thousands of light years further than the latter. The telescope is perhaps a good metaphor for information technology, which has expanded the service provision of medical rehabilitation from the institute-bound expertise to the farthest rural corner. The connecting system lies in the middle. The usual telephone system, either the land line or a mobile phone, is the connecting system. Internet connectivity is required for the doctor and the patient. Although it is optional for the latter, it allows the patient to receive the doctor’s prescription, instructions in detail. Otherwise, this can also be done over the phone or instructions can also be sent as ‘SMS’ to the mobile phone.
