ABSTRACT

Nanotechnology is receiving a lot of attention these days, which is raising hopes not only among academics but also among investors, governments, and businesses. Its exceptional capacity to create frameworks at the atomic scale has already resulted in the development of novel materials and gadgets with broad applications. Significant advances in the energy sector, in particular, are required to satisfy our growing thirst for energy, which grows in tandem with many people joining developed countries and our demand per capita. As we gather more evidence of human impact on the climate, biodiversity, and air, water, and soil quality, this must be implemented in a manner, which includes the environment in the wealth-generating equation. This chapter gives an overall insight into the role of nanotechnology and nanomaterials in the area of sustainable energy storages such as batteries, ultracapacitors, fuel cells, thermal energy storage, and mechanical energy storage.
