ABSTRACT
This chapter presents a summary of environmental considerations relevant to health and hazard risk concepts. Topics in the chapter include introductions to criteria and hazardous air pollutants; drinking water and wastewater contaminants; residential, commercial, industrial, and hazardous wastes; and new and existing toxic substances. Relevant contaminants and regulatory programs for their control to limit human health and environmental impacts are covered. Four illustrative examples and four problems are provided to demonstrate health and hazard risk concepts associated with environmental topics.
