ABSTRACT

The volume of traffic on roadways increases as the population of metropolitan areas grows, resulting in traffic congestion. Congestion costs the government money, increases resident stress, and has a negative influence on the environment. Vehicles can be diverted to a more efficient route to their destination, avoiding crowded areas and improving system efficiency. This chapter discusses numerous methods for analyzing real-time traffic data, as well as some of the algorithms that provide a real-time, energy-efficient, and optimal path from the source to the destination. This chapter also discusses the benefits and limitations of using these techniques and algorithms in an IoT-enabled intelligent traffic management system (ITMS). This chapter also looks at the results of contemporary study on the same topic.
