ABSTRACT

The deployment of a femtocell is an adequate explication for mitigating coverage holes and providing broadband service with high user experience. Femtocell is a kind of small cell under the coverage of macrocell, which makes the network architecture heterogeneous, more efficient, and ultra-dense. For supporting the dense cellular network, efficient resource management is essential. Cloud radio access network (C-RAN) is the paradigm shift in the next-generation 5G network, where the RAN is put in a cloud network, so wherever the user moves they can access the network to get proper quality of service (QoS). A cognitive femtocell (CFC) is an effective implication for sensing the radio resources and efficiently allocates to the users depending on their priorities. The resources can be segregated in a dedicated and shared manner. Depending on network congestion, dedicated resources can be assigned to high priority users for low congested networks. As the congestion level increases resources can be shared among the users. It minimizes intra- and inter-tier interference and enhances throughput. A CFC is an efficient solution for proper resource management and supports the guaranteed QoS of the user.
